Product Introduction

What is Kevlar twisted yarn?

Kevlar twisted yarn features extremely high tensile strength, exceeding 28 grams per denier, which is 5-6 times that of high-quality steel. With a modulus 2-3 times that of steel or fiberglass and toughness twice that of steel, it weighs only 1/5 of steel. The strength and toughness of aramid 1414 make it highly resistant to cutting and processing.

Aramid 1414 operates continuously within a temperature range of -196 ºC to 330 ºC. It does not decompose or melt at high temperatures up to 560 ºC. Known as "synthetic steel wire," it offers excellent insulation and corrosion resistance with a long life cycle.

Technical Performance

Mechanical Properties: Strength of 3.6Gpa, elongation modulus of 131Gpa, and elongation at break of 2.8% - 3.5%. It is recognized as one of the world's strongest sewing threads.

Thermal Properties:

  • Long term use: 380 ºC
  • Carbonization starts: 427 ºC
  • Short-term contact: 585 ºC
  • Thermal conductivity: 0.048 W (m·K)

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the maximum temperature Kevlar yarn can withstand?
Kevlar yarn can be used continuously between -196 ºC and 330 ºC. It only begins to carbonize at 427 ºC and can withstand short-term contact up to 585 ºC.
How does Kevlar's strength compare to steel?
Kevlar is 5-6 times stronger than high-quality steel by weight, while being only 1/5 of the weight of steel.
Is Kevlar yarn resistant to chemicals?
Yes, it exhibits high chemical resistance and stability, making it suitable for harsh industrial environments and exposure to various substances.
Does this material provide electrical insulation?
Yes, Kevlar is an excellent electrical insulator, which is why it is frequently used to reinforce wires and cables.
Can I get customized sizes for the ropes and tapes?
Absolutely. While many standard sizes are listed, we provide various customized diameters, widths, and structures (braided or twisted) to meet specific project requirements.
What are the main benefits of using Kevlar for safety ropes?
The primary benefits include high fracture strength, low elongation, flame resistance (it does not melt), and extreme durability against abrasion and cutting.
